Cowboys win the night in last tuneup before District play begins

The Coppell Cowboys took on the Rockwall Heath Hawks last night in the last non-district game of the season. JVII started the night off with a commanding 3-0 win over the Hawks. Collin Frye had two goals and Ayush Gupta put in the third goal for the Cowboys. Daniel Garcia, Sean Simpson, and Alfred Fairchild had the assists on the night. The Cowboys were solid in the back led by Dylan Green. Player of the game goes to Ayush Gupta who was a big presence on attack and defense.

Next up ws the JVI. They finished the game in a tough 0-0 draw. Dhruv Patel and Rodrigo Ortega kept the shutout for Coppell. The Cowboys held possession and had the shot total on the night but could not put away on the Hawks. Player of the Game was Karthik Ponnopalli who played a great game at CB for the Cowboys.

Varsity took the field next hoping to have a strong showing before District play on Friday. The Cowboys took over the game from the whistle creating chances and stifling the Hawks attack. The Cowboys took over the first  15 minutes creating chances till they put one away in the 15th minute. Tom Vazhekatt scored his team leading 8th goal on the year off a great long ball played in by Nicolas Radicic. The Hawks battled back and played tough but could not get a great goal scoring opportunity in the first half. With about 5 minutes left in the half the Cowboys would the goal again, this time off a laser shot from Sebastian BlaasThomas Capdevila got the assist on the Blaas goal. The Hawks battled the entire half trying to get a goal back in the game but the Cowboy defense was too strong. Goalkeeper Arath Valdez had some big saves in the last ten minutes to keep the shutout in tack for the night. 

The Cowboys travel to Irving MacArthur to take on the Cardinals in their first District game of the season.
